A beautifully proportioned 1960s Swedish side table from the sought-after “Triva” range by Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), one of Sweden’s most renowned department stores and design houses.
The table features a richly figured rosewood-veneered top with softly rounded corners and a beautifully finished chamfered edge, raised on contrasting ebonised, tapering legs. The combination of warm rosewood tones, striking natural grain and clean Scandinavian lines gives this piece a wonderfully understated elegance.
Compact and versatile, it would work equally well as a side table, lamp table, occasional table or bedside table, and would sit comfortably within both mid-century and contemporary interiors.
The underside retains its original silver NK:s Verkstäder Nyköping label, adding an important piece of provenance.
The Triva range was developed by Elias Svedberg and Lena Larsson for Nordiska Kompaniet, with the concept originally introduced in the 1940s. The range was particularly innovative for its time, designed to be dismantled and transported in flat-pack form — an approach that would later become widely adopted within furniture design.
In good vintage condition, with minor signs of age and previous use consistent with its age. The rosewood top retains a lovely original sheen and beautiful natural figuring.
