A superb and highly impressive Danish Mid-Century Modern executive desk designed by Arne Vodder for Sibast, dating from the 1960s.
This is a particularly substantial example of Vodder’s classic executive desk design, with a beautiful combination of rich rosewood-toned timber and teak detailing. The large freestanding desk is designed to be used from either side, making it equally suited to a home office, study or larger workspace.
The rectangular top sits above two generously proportioned, floating-style cabinets. One side features cupboards with locking doors, each opening to a single shelf, together with a pull-out desk extension. The opposite side houses five drawers — three to the left and two to the right — also with a pull-out desk extension.
The drawers operate smoothly and the desk is exceptionally sturdy, with a substantial construction that gives it the presence and quality for which Danish executive furniture of this period is renowned.
Good vintage condition overall, with signs of previous use commensurate with age. There are some missing drawer dividers, along with some pen/ink marks inside the drawers. There is also a small amount of veneer loss to the desk top and front, although this is not particularly noticeable unless closely inspected. Of the four locks, one is no longer functioning, while the other three are operational. A pair of keys is included. Please study all photographs carefully, which form part of the description. We are always happy to answer any questions or provide additional photographs.

Arne Vodder (1926–2009) was one of Denmark’s prominent Mid-Century Modern furniture designers. He trained under the influential Danish architect and designer Finn Juhl, and went on to develop a distinctive style characterised by clean lines, beautifully considered proportions and softly rounded details. His furniture of the 1950s and 1960s is particularly sought after, and his executive desks for Sibast have become recognised classics of Danish Mid-Century Modern design.
