An original Ernest Race rocking chair, designed and manufactured in Britain during the late 1940s. A wonderful example of Race’s pioneering post-war furniture, combining an elegant steel rod frame with beautifully sculpted teak armrests and an effortlessly light silhouette.

The chair retains its original white enamelled steel frame, showing the honest patina expected from nearly 80 years of use. The seat and back cushions have recently been professionally rebuilt with new webbing, hessian, padding and upholstery, covered in a rich vintage orange velvet that complements the period perfectly while providing modern comfort.

Light, sculptural and unmistakably British Modernist, this chair works equally well as a statement lounge chair or within a curated mid-century interior.
