This stylish dressing table was designed in the 1950s by John & Syliva Reid for Stag. It is part of their C Range furniture series which was unlike anything being offered to the mass market in post war Britain. The couple designed a number of iconic pieces of furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. The units were stark in the extreme. There were no handles; the drawers and doors had recessed hand grips instead. All were straight sided boxes. Stag advertised it as for ‘the young in heart and in pocket’ and for a design of this quality.
The dressing table has a walnut veneer and a black laminate surface. It has three drawers to the left, with lovely cut out handles, a draw underneath the laminate surface and a lift-up mirror, perfect for hiding a laptop when the work has been done.
In good restored condition, minor signs of age through general use. The mirror is in excellent condition. An impressive addition to any mid-century or contemporary interior. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
