A seemingly rare ‘Lyon’ teak sideboard by Swedish designer, Nils Jonsson, for Troeds Bjärnum.
Excellent storage capabilities and featuring many special details including the sycamore wood interior lining and gorgeously shaped finger pulls.
As with many Scandinavian sideboards the legs can be removed so even easier for delivery or if you have a tight doorway.
The demand for sideboards that are less than 150cms in length is very strong, and as only around 1% of vintage ones were as small as this were bought at the time they are extremely hard to find.
The sideboard is largely made of solid wood and veneered wood with real teak. Inside, the sideboard has been fitted with maple veneer. It stands on four round conical legs. There is a removable/adjustable shelf behind the door. The sideboard has four drawers with recessed handles in just off centre. The top drawer is intended for cutlery and is lined with blue baize and has a separate / removable tray. All drawers and cupboard doors run smoothly. The prestigious ‘Troeds’ maker’s stamp is still present on the inside of the cabinet.
In good unrestored vintage condition, according to age. Structurally solid, we’ve given the sideboard a good clean and refresh although there are still signs of wear. All of which are commensurate with age. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
Manufactured by one of Sweden’s most distinguished 20th century furniture makers back in the 1960s. This teak sideboard by Troeds Bjärnum is a beautiful and simple design, sure to blend in effortlessly with any contemporary or vintage/retro home.
