A classically designed mid century oak sideboard / dressing chest by John & Sylvia Reid for Stag Furniture as part of their ‘Concord’ range.

John & Sylvia Reid were trained as architects and employed by Stag from 1952.

This lovely light oak low sideboard was originaly a dressing chest (we stall have the orignal mirror if wanted) features six drawers with geometric solid oak handles. Set on four round elegantly tapered light beech legs. The mirror completes the piece for a mid century bedroom but is easily removable if not required.

John and Sylvia Reid were both working architects, and gained valuable experience working for influential British designer Robin Day and Hille in the early 1950s. They were asked to design a range of furniture for Stag, and fostered a 10-year partnership between 1952 and 1962 with the manufacturer. Taking inspiration from the prevailing Scandinavian designers of the time, and drawing on their architectural background, John and Sylvia were among the pioneers of British Mid Century Modern furniture.
