The Wassily Chair, also known as the Model B3 chair, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was the head of the cabinet-making workshop at the Bauhaus, Dessau, Germany. Gavina produced the Wassily chair under licence between 1962 and 1968, then Knoll purchased the Gavina company and took over production. The Wassily Chair, like many other designs of the modernist movement, has been mass-produced since the late 1920s, and continuously in production since the 1950s.
This fantastic chair was originally purchased in the UK from habitat in the 1970s and has been in the same family ever since.
In good vintage condition. There is some minor marks to the leather and minor wear to the chrome, a small tear on the back band but not all the way through, and not noticeable unless looking very carefully. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
