4 x Vintage No.222 Bauhaus Stacking Chairs by Robert Mallet Stevens SOLD
This chair was designed by French Modernist Architect Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886-1945.)
It was first fabricated in France in 1928 by Ecart.
The chair is made of lacquered tubular steel (the black is the original colour), a welded frames; rubber pads under the legs. The chairs were made probably in the mid-20th century.
Early examples of the chair designed for Villa Cavrois. There were many versions of this chair manufactured between 1929 and 1931 and many reproductions since then. These examples are unmarked so their history is difficult to decipher but they are unmistakably Mallet-Stevens famous design.
Are in good vintage condition, bears signs of age and wear. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
