Originally manufactured under government instruction to provide an affordable solution to furniture demand during the heavily rationed wartime period during and after WW2. Steeped in history this chair has retains its original charm.
Boasting the distinctive Ercol silhouette and quality workmanship of the manufacturer and the period. Great to add to an existing collection or to start a new one!!
This Ercol Child’s Rocking Chair is an excellent quality piece of furniture, and its an early example from the popular Windsor range.
Its well constructed and made from solid elm & beech, and the nicely fashioned back consists of 6 spindles
It’s well constructed and made from solid elm and beech, and the nicely fashioned back consists of 6 spindles beneath an arched frame.
The arms are supported by tapering columns which adjoin the substantial solid elm seat and the tapering H pattern stretcher formation, and the legs terminate in the 2 rocking platforms.
Condition:
The condition is generally very good, with mainly minor marks, rubs, scuffs and dings to mention, however there has been a historic repair to one arm (see photos).
