1960s Robert Heritage for Archie Shine ‘Bridgford’ Sideboard SOLD
Robert Heritage for Archie Shine ‘Bridgford’ teak sideboard dating to mid 1960s. Robert Heritage was one of the most influential British furniture designers of his generation as he also taught many of the next generation of British designers at the Royal College of Art in London.
Archie Shine sold a lot of their pieces through top retailers like Heals, and the quality of their pieces is always fantastic, and would have been extremely expensive when new. Using the best timbers and veneers along with excellent workmanship to produce pieces that still look modern some 60+ years later. Even the back of the sideboard is veneered in teak which you’ll only find on the best pieces of the era.
The iconic ‘grill’ cupboard detail on the two single cupboards. The two single cupboards both have an internal shelf, a central double door cupboard – all cupboards have removable shelves. The cupboard doors open fully.
Within the first single cupboard are 2 drawers; one lined with green felt and wooden dividers and a separate cutlery drawer.
A top-quality piece that really shows it in every detail.
Lovely rich honey colour. The doors don’t have handles but open when gently pushed in at the top corners.
In very good unrestored vintage condition. The cupboard doors work as they should. Minor signs of age and use and some sun staining visible to the top of the board. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
