The Volnay range designed in about 1956 by John Herbert was probably Younger’s most successful range as they were still selling it in 1966. A Younger Ltd was a renowned, fine quality furniture maker, heavily influenced by the Scandinavian ‘form and function’ design aesthetic of the day and produced high end furniture from the 1950’s-1970’s. Their pieces were low in volume and expertly constructed, sold in places like Heals of London.
The table is in very good vintage condition and will comfortably seat 6. The teak is dark and richly toned with a stunning grain on the table top. With softly curved edges and flowing, sculpted legs that taper down from the table corners, its clean, organic design will fit into the contemporary dining room.
We bought them with a matching sideboard (see separate listing coming soon) from the family of the original owners who bought the set in the early 1960’s.
