Rare G Plan Young Idea Range chest of drawers.

Richard Young designed 3 ranges for G Plan, all of which are rarely seen today.

The Young Idea Range was introduced in 1963, and was only made for a couple of years as the focus by 1964 was for teak rather than oak pieces.

This range in light oak with white top drawers accentuated by narrow rosewood strips was designed for small bedrooms.

His early designs for G Plan were possibly too advanced for their time as they’re rarely seen not only for sale but also they don’t appear much in the G Plan catalogues. The Young Idea Bedroom Range shown was described as ” The perfect answer for young moderns ”. It was designed to be semi-fitted with wardrobes and storage beds as well as chests and dressing tables.

However individual pieces like this stylish and practical chest make great stand alone pieces.

In great vintage condition. Cleaned and re-polished. Please see photos – happy to answer any questions
