A superb large Danish teak sideboard by Dyrlund, retaining its original manufacturer’s label, and dating from the 1960s.
Beautifully crafted, this impressive sideboard showcases the exceptional quality for which Dyrlund became internationally renowned. Sculptural hand-carved door pulls, beautifully detailed drawer fronts and rich teak grain combine to create an elegant piece that is both functional and timeless.
The design is often compared to the work of Arne Vodder, particularly his celebrated Triennale series, with its refined proportions and organic detailing. While this is not a documented Vodder design, it clearly reflects the same Scandinavian design philosophy.
Sliding doors at either end reveal spacious cupboards with adjustable or removable shelving, while the central bank of five hand-crafted dovetailed drawers offers generous storage. The upper two drawers retain their original green felt lining, ideal for cutlery or valuables.
A particularly desirable feature is the fully finished rear, allowing the sideboard to be positioned as a room divider as well as against a wall.
Condition
Presented in good vintage condition with age-related wear consistent with over 60 years of careful use.
A historic repair has been carried out to one of the internal sliding door finger pulls. The repair is secure, the doors operate smoothly, and it has no impact on the structural integrity or everyday use of the sideboard.
