This mid century 1960s sideboard was made by Greaves & Thomas, a firm who created high end designer furniture for the British market.
The sideboard has a bank of three drawers in its centre, the top drawer with cutlery dividers and lined in red felt. To each side of the drawers, there is single cupboard and a double handled drop down cupboard with black laminate for holding hot pots or drinks! This is a small sideboard but with lots of storage space inside.
Well made and crafted as to be expected by this British manufacturer.
Lovely colour and grain to the figured teak and teak veneer.
This sideboard is an excellent example of early British mid century Scandinavian inspired design.
In great vintage condition. Minor marks and scratches to the top consistent with general age and use as to be expected with a piece of this age. Please note some ink marks on the red velvet baize. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
Greaves & Thomas were a London based furniture maker based in Hackney, East London from 1911 till 1965. They were incorporated into Schreiber furniture in 1967. Their furniture from the 1960s mirrored the style modernist Danish designers, using clean geometries, tapered furniture legs and wonderful timber.
