Original Arkana ‘Tulip’ Dining Table And Six Chairs SOLD
Inspired by the Tulip table by the designer Eero Saarinen, the Arkana dining set was produced by British furniture manufacturer Arkana in the 1960s and 1970s, and has become a design classic.
An original Arkana tulip dining suite by Maurice Burke for Arkana consisting of a round dining table and six swivel chairs.
The design of the suite features a white fibreglass and plastic moulding, circular table top with single pedestal and dining chairs with black leather seat pads and swivel action frames – the seats rotate back to their original position when not in use.
The set consists of a wooden table with a lacquered trumpet base coated with Resopal. It is completed by six swivel chairs with metallic bases coated in white plastic, with Fiberglass seat shells.
A suite perfect as a space saver as originally intended and a design classic of the era. Not only strikingly elegant but also able to accommodate 6 people, the pedal design of this table leaves no legs to get in the way.
The table and chairs are sturdy and solid, clean and polished. Some inevitable light wear from use over the years to the bases but minimal and all in all in very good condition for a practical piece of furniture nearly 50 years old.
