Pair of 1950s Mid Century Vintage Oak Stag ‘C’ Range Chest of Drawers SOLD
This stylish pair of chests were designed in the 1950s by John & Sylvia Reid for Stag. It is part of their C Range furniture series which was unlike anything being offered to the mass market in post war Britain. The couple designed a number of iconic pieces of furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. The units were stark in the extreme. There were no handles; the drawers and doors had recessed hand grips instead. All were straight sided boxes. Stag advertised it as for ‘the young in heart and in pocket’ and for a design of this quality.
Sleek integrated drawer pulls that add to the elegance, neat and contemporary design of this 1950s piece. Finished in light oak veneer with solid oak tapered legs, it has a beautiful colour and wood grain. Drawers with attractive recessed handles underneath each drawer.
In good clean vintage condition, the larger chest of drawers has one historical repair to the bottom drawer recessed handle so the wood grain is different – this doesn’t effect use at all! Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
A much sought after mid century chest of drawers. An impressive addition to any mid-century or contemporary interior.
