A gorgeous pair of mid century Afrormosia re-upholstered armchairs by British manufacturers Guy Rogers and designed by George Fejer and Eric Phamphilon for their Kyoto Range, circa 1960s.
Both chairs have been reupholstered and are very comfortable. The solid teak angular frame is in nice contrast to the seat’s organic shape. The chair is very well constructed using a mortise and tenon joints – joining two pieces of wood at 90 degrees and consists of two parts; the mortise hole and the tenon tongue. On the surface looking at the chairs it seems a simple join but is actually one of the strongest join there is and has been used by bespoke manufacturers like Guy Rogers for generations.
Both of the frames are in identical excellent clean but unrestored vintage condition and newly reupholstered in Bute Fabric Recycled Wool Pink (Mojo) or Yellow (Samatha) fabric. The frames are structurally sound; no wobbles or splits to the wood. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
