A beautiful and very rare vintage desk by Richard Hornby for Fyne Ladye Furniture of Bath, an Afromosia Desk / Bureau / Secretaire, designed c. 1959.
Richard Hornby designed furniture for affluent trendsetters in Britain. His designs were cutting edge and crafted to the highest quality from exotic solid timbers. This compact writing desk is no exception, it’s a sleek streamlined offering with a focus on the beauty of simplicity.
Small but highly-functional desktop covered in textured black leather. There is a generously-sized drawer beneath and a handy cabinet space above with beautifully-crafted finger drawers. It’s the perfect spot for a laptop with plenty of small spaces in the cabinet for all your office-related equipment.
The lower drawer features Hornby’s signature reeded drawer-fronts. Accents are also created with the tapered legs and raised ridges on the top of the desk. This is a very rare and elegant piece that will stand out in any contemporary or vintage interior.
