A vintage John Piper ‘London Skyline’ Coffee Table, manufactured circa 1960s.
This John Piper coffee table is believed to be produced by furniture manufacturer Myer, and retailed by Terence Conran (Habitat), during the 1960s. The John Piper design depicts famous London landmarks including St. Pauls Cathedral and St. Martin-in-the-Fields. The table design itself is often attributed Terence Conran.
John Piper (1903 – 1992) was an important British artist, designer and printmaker. His work often depicts the British landscape and in particular its churches and monuments.
This fabulous design by John Piper for Conran is the rarer colourway. The top is a laminate embossed with the skyline. It has a useful shelf underneath and slim black metal legs.
In good vintage condition. The top shows some minor signs of age nothing to detract from its charm and patina. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
