Vintage White & Newton High Sideboard 1960s 1970s Retro Mid Century SOLD
A stunning and seemingly rare White & Newton ‘Arundel’ high sideboard in English Yew.
Designed by Phillip Hussey in 1969 and then available in teak or the more expensive yew veneers, either as a low sideboard or as in this case with the cupboard top.
The cupboard top sits on the sideboard top, so can be easily removed so as to use the piece as a stand alone sideboard. The top cupboards fix securely to the sideboard base with metal pins. Four pull drawers with interesting finger holes and top drawer lined for cutlery; alongside an dropdown drinks cupboard. Top cupboard has two double door cupboards opening by gentle push with adjustable shelving.
This piece has been manufactured in yew around 1970.
It’s in very good vintage condition with only a few minor general wear and tear scratches. Please see the water mark on the dropdown cupboard. The yew is a lovely rich golden colour with a lovely grain. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
