This is a truly stunning dining table in beautiful teak wood, designed and manufactured in Denmark, by Svend Aage Madsen in the 1960s. The grain patterns on the table are rich. This design highlights the attractive pedestal base and the banding that runs around the edge of the table top. Another super feature is that the two additional leaves can be used separately, or together, meaning that 3 different table lengths can be set. There is a faint stamped makers name underneath one of the leaf’s.
Comfortably sit four people when closed but could easily seat eight when fully extended.
The overwhelming majority of Svend Madsen’s furniture was designed in the 1960s and his creations epitomise the Danish Modern style. He favoured warm teak and rosewood, organic silhouettes and minimal decorative details. Madsen created desks for the Danish makers H.P. Hansen and Sigurd Hansen. He also designed sideboards and dining tables for K. Knudsen and Son. These classic mid-century dining tables and sideboards designed by the Danish furniture designers of this period are still highly valued throughout the world to this day.
In good vintage condition. We have given the table a light clean but there will be minimal signs of previous use as to be expected with age. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
