The Wassily Chair, also known as the Model B3 chair, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was the head of the cabinet-making workshop at the Bauhaus, Dessau, Germany. Gavina produced the Wassily chair under licence between 1962 and 1968, then Knoll purchased the Gavina company and took over production. The Wassily Chair, like many other designs of the modernist movement, has been mass-produced since the late 1920s, and continuously in production since the 1950s.
This fantastic chair was originally purchased in Paris, France in the 1960s and has been in the same family ever since.
In very good vintage condition. There is some minor marks and wear to the chrome, but the leather is sound and free from any degradation, small patches of wear can be visually seen on the leather. Please review the photos – happy to answer any questions.
